(August) Local Redmond HFH news: HFH and a large group of volunteers worked on raising the walls on the James house August 12th and 13th. The walls are Stress Panels; these panels are made of wood on the outside with foam filling (6") on the inside with electrical chases built into them. After the 12th and 13th, HFH will be working every weekend to get things done. HFH hopes to have the trusses up by the 19th and start sheeting the roof and tiling it with Monier tiles. If anyone would like to volunteer to help please call Redmonds Habitat office to sign up. HFH is in need of toolssaws, routers, generators, etc.to be donated for use in future construction. Please call 541-548-1406. The HFH office is open from 10-12 am to receive donations. If you are unable to bring these tools down to the office, HFH will pick them up from your home or business. Their web page is up and running at http://www.redmondhabitat.org. Go check it out! (August) Local Jefferson County HFH news: Jefferson Countys HFH had a blitz build this month on a house they are constructing for a mom and her two kids. Within four days the foundation was laid, the walls were raised, siding, windows, and doors were installed, and the home was roofed. Volunteers from the Catholic Church, United Methodist Church, local Lions Club and community worked together to build the home. 75% of the funding for the home is through Lions Club International, while the rest is through the local Lions Club and Jefferson Countys HFH. Some of Pacific Power and Lights employees donated their time to fulfill community service requirements. Within two months, HFH plans to break ground on their next home. This year has been quite exciting for them! (August) Local Sisters HFH news: Sisters HFH has finished building the duplex on Cowboy Street. The two houses are zero lot line homes. The dedication for the homes was on the 13th of August. They have decided that Thursday, Friday and Saturday of every week will be work days on building projects. If anyone would like to volunteer their time on one or more of these days, please call Charlene at 549-1193. The Sisters HFH Thrift Store is open from 10am to 4pm, Tuesday through Saturday. Every purchase helps build more homes. |
